National Bowls Day was an initiative created in joint with ParticipACTION’s 150 year playlist in Canada. To celebrate the country’s 150th birthday, we took part to show Canada why they should be playing bowls. 2017 was a great success, with a few thousand participants nationwide. Our clubs across Canada made the day a fantastic success. It was in fact such as success, that it was decided that a National Bowls Day should be an annual event.
We planned even more in 2018, getting even more promotional items to send out to clubs as well as a digital tool kit to help clubs with the creation and promotion of their events. Bowls Day 2018 had more than 100 clubs participating with over 4000 participants! Plenty of new people in their communities getting to experience the game we all know and love.
So with less than a month to go to Bowls Day 2019, there is still time for your club to sign up if they haven’t already! Wondering what your club gets out of registering for Bowls Day? Lots! There are quite a few awesome things about when you sign up for National Bowls Day.
The first thing is being entered into the grand prize draw for the MVP prize pack! We are lucky to have MVP as a sponsor for the third year in a row, and they are committed to providing a prize pack with fantastic new stuff to compliment your club bowler programs!
Second is you get access to the fantastic promotional material that Bowls Canada has developed for you. It has templates for you to invite the media to your event, write online event posting, create a newspaper ad or customize a banner! There are also tips on how to maximize your social media, a helpful event planning checklist and a number of ideas to help promote your event and programs.
Third, we’re still going to be sending out a super package of promotional materials that you can give away to the participants at your event!
Finally, it’s an opportunity to share the sport that we all love and enjoy playing! Bring out your family, invite the neighbourhood, celebrate your members and volunteers that do so much for you during the season.
National Bowls Day is really just a celebration of the sport and being able to share that with as many people as you can. If anything in this post tickles your fancy, sign up at the link below and get started on your National Bowls Day event today!
